      Abstract : This dataset includes the porosity-thickness (PHI*H) values derived from wells for three geological units in Alberta: the Leduc Formation, the combined Swan Hills and Slave Point formations, and the Granite Wash. PHI*H is calculated by multiplying net reservoir thickness (H) by average porosity (PHI) at each well location. H is determined from logs by using petrophysical cutoffs, while PHI is interpreted from logs and calibrated with core data. PHI*H is an estimate of total pore space per unit area at each well location. The parameter cutoffs used for net reservoir thickness determination for the respective geological units are as follows:1) Leduc Formation: porosity >=3%2) combined Swan Hills and Slave Point formations: porosity >=3%3) Granite Wash: volume of shale <=40% and porosity >=8%This digital data product is part of the Geothermal Atlas of Alberta, developed under the Mineral Grant provided by the Government of Alberta.
      Purpose : To provide well-derived PHI*H values for each evaluated geological unit for the assessment of total pore volume potentially available for storing geothermal fluids.

   Process_Description : A core-log calibration approach was employed to calculate porosity-thickness from well logs. The process involved the following steps:1) Publicly available porosity data from core analysis were compiled and depth was shifted to logging depth;2) Porosity models (calculation formulas) were derived for different geological units and different geological facies by calibrating core porosity with logs;3) The porosity models were propagated across Alberta where suitable porosity logs (namely neutron porosity, bulk density, and sonic logs) are available, and continuous porosity logs were calculated from input logs;4) Net reservoir intervals were determined by applying petrophysical cutoffs on logs, and reservoir summation was performed over the respective geological unit. The output consists of net reservoir thickness (H), average porosity over net reservoir intervals (PHI), and their product porosity thickness (PHI*H).
