    Description
Abstract: This dataset comprises initial seismic event locations and local magnitudes from three rounds of nodal array deployments between July 2023 and November 2023 in the area north of the town of Peace River, northwestern Alberta. The catalogue includes the unique identification number of the seismic event, event date and time, spatial location (latitude, longitude, and depth), local magnitude, and the number of nodes that record each event.
Purpose: This work supports the study of the seismic cluster north of the town of Peace River, the North Peace River seismic cluster.

  Attribute_Accuracy
Attribute_Accuracy_Report: Local magnitudes in the catalogue were calculated from the maximum S-wave amplitude recorded on the horizontal components using the distance-correction model developed by Yenier (2017) for earthquakes in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. This method is consistent with the magnitude calculation approach used for regional-array seismicity. Local magnitude estimates may be affected by uncertainties in event locations and seismic phase picks. Despite these uncertainties, magnitude estimates for the same events are generally consistent between the local nodal array data and data from the Regional Alberta Observatory for Earthquake Studies (RAVEN) network.
Logical_Consistency_Report: The catalogue has been reviewed, and there are no known errors or inconsistencies in the dataset.
Completeness_Report: This dataset comprises initial seismic event locations and local magnitudes from three rounds of nodal array deployments between July 2023 and November 2023 in the area north of the town of Peace River, northwestern Alberta.

The tabular dataset includes a unique event identification number; the date and time of each seismic event; latitude and longitude (NAD83 datum, decimal degrees); event hypocentre depth (metres relative to sea level); true vertical depth (metres below ground surface); local magnitude; and the total number of nodes (stations) that recorded each event.

Event locations were determined using the NonLinLoc software package (Lomax et al., 2000, 2014). Local magnitudes were calculated using the distance-correction model developed for earthquakes in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin by Yenier (2017).

  Positional_Accuracy
    Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy
Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Report: Event locations in the catalogue were derived from a high-quality dataset of manually reviewed P- and S-wave picks using a one-dimensional (1D) velocity model developed from well log data. Uncertainty in estimated hypocentre locations, particularly depths, may arise from limitations in station coverage, velocity model assumptions, and location algorithms.
    Vertical_Positional_Accuracy
Vertical_Positional_Accuracy_Report: The catalogue contains some negative values in both depth fields. The Dpth_SL_m values were generated directly by the NonLinLoc event location algorithm. The Dpth_TVD_m values were derived from the Dpth_SL_m output by adding the estimated average surface elevation to obtain the true vertical depth relative to the ground surface.

Negative depth values were not filtered out and were retained in the catalogue to preserve the original NonLinLoc outputs and keep the catalogue as complete as possible. Users may apply their own filtering criteria, including the removal of negative-depth events, if desired.
  Lineage
    Process_Step
Process_Description: A seismic nodal array was rapidly deployed in three phases between 27 July and 15 November 2023 in the area north of the town of Peace River. The recorded seismic data were processed to detect and locate seismic events in the area. Local magnitudes were estimated for each seismic event, and the final event catalogue was generated in 2025.
