- Description:
Abstract: This dataset comprises relocated seismic event locations and local magnitudes from three rounds of nodal array deployments between December 2022 and April 2023 in the Reno area of the Peace River region, northwestern Alberta. The catalogue includes the unique identification number of the seismic event, event date and time, spatial location (latitude, longitude, and depth), local magnitude, and the number of nodes that record each event.
Purpose: This work supports the study of the seismic cluster in the Reno area of the Peace River region, the Reno seismic cluster.

- Attribute_Accuracy:
Attribute_Accuracy_Report: Local magnitudes in the catalogue were calculated from the maximum S-wave amplitude recorded on the horizontal components using the distance-correction model developed by Yenier (2017) for earthquakes in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. This method is consistent with the magnitude calculation approach used for regional-array seismicity. Local magnitude estimates may be affected by uncertainties in event locations and seismic phase picks. Despite these uncertainties, magnitude estimates for the same events are generally consistent between the local nodal array data and data from the Regional Alberta Observatory for Earthquake Studies (RAVEN) network.
Logical_Consistency_Report: The catalogue has been reviewed, and there are no known errors or inconsistencies in the dataset.
Completeness_Report: This dataset comprises relocated seismic event locations and local magnitudes from three rounds of nodal array deployments between December 2022 and April 2023 in the Reno area of the Peace River region, northwestern Alberta. The tabular dataset includes a unique event identification number; the date and time of each seismic event; latitude and longitude (NAD83 datum, decimal degrees); event hypocentre depth (true vertical depth below ground surface, in metres); local magnitude; and the total number of nodes (stations) that recorded each event.Initial event locations were determined using the NonLinLoc software package (Lomax et al., 2000, 2014) and then relocated using hypoDD (Waldhauser, 2001). Local magnitudes were calculated using the distance-correction model developed for earthquakes in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin by Yenier (2017).References:

- Positional_Accuracy:
- Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy:
Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Report: Event locations in the catalogue were derived from a high-quality dataset of manually reviewed P- and S-wave picks using a one-dimensional (1D) velocity model developed from well log data. Uncertainty in estimated hypocentre locations may arise from limitations in station coverage, velocity model assumptions, and location algorithms.
- Vertical_Positional_Accuracy:
Vertical_Positional_Accuracy_Report: Event locations, including depths, were determined using the hypoDD relocation algorithm, with relocation performed only for events having at least 10 seismic phase picks (P- and S-waves) to ensure a high-quality relocated earthquake catalogue.

Process_Description: A seismic nodal array was rapidly deployed in three phases between December 2022 and April 2023 following the M5.6 earthquake that occurred on 29 November 2022 in the Reno area of the Peace River region. The recorded seismic data were processed to detect and locate the aftershock sequence. The relocated catalogue was generated using hypoDD. Local magnitudes were estimated for each seismic event, and the final event catalogue was generated in 2024.
