Polygons were drawn based on the infilling of a digital elevation model to the elevation of an outlet channel. In areas where there is a basin, the extent of the reconstructed lake was based on the maximum extent of this basin, with an inferred ice margin damming the lake in that basin. In some cases where the basins were not obvious, previous work was consulted (for example, glacial lake Kipp), or other geomorphic indicators such as moraines were used.
Glacial lakes were named by either consulting the literature (references provided in the attribute table), or a geographic feature covered by the lake was chosen.
The metrics (area, volume) of the lake were calculated in arcmap.
The relative sequences of the lakes were determined based on the assumption that the oldest lakes in one area would be at higher elevations than more recent ones, and that ice retreated from the southwest of the province towards the northeast.
